Our Review:
Group is back with their Easy VBS theme for the year, Weird Animals. Their Ultimate VBS Starter Kit has everything in it that you need as the Director to organize and plan for this year's VBS.
Great for BIG churches, this VBS will expand or shrink to accommodate any size group. And, as always, the Group offers every conceivable accessory that you could possibly want to purchase, to make your VBS more memorable and fun for the kids.
Despite distractions by the "crazy critters," around which this VBS theme is focused, the Bible message that "Jesus Loves You" comes through loud and clear!
Children learn that even when they feel left out, different, afraid, or when they don't understand or even do wrong things, Jesus still loves them. This makes the message uplifting and comforting to children, who may feel alienated from others in some way.
Group 2014 VBS is offering a new mission effort through their Operation Kid to Kid, helping to provide clean water for children in other countries. This year's project has a fun visual clue, in that Group offers a large (inflatable) glass into which you can place blue balloons, of different hue, when new donations are made towards your set goal.
At the "KidVid Cinema" kids will learn about children who have special difficulties that cause them to feel "weird." A verse accompanies each video to help the kids remember that Jesus loves them - relating to that day’s point.
It's important for us to explain to children that we are made in the image of God; so, we are not just like the animals. Other than being sure to make this clear, I have no concerns about this easy Group 2014 VBS Theme of Weird Animals.
If you have a large church with tons of children at your VBS, this may be the way to go. Group has all of the know-how and support to give you everything you need for your VBS; from "Bible Memory Buddies" right down to themed snacks. Their materials and decorating ideas are flawless, and I'm sure that you will find just what you are looking for.
But if yours is a moderate to small-sized church, be advised that sorting through all of the information provided can sometimes be a bit daunting. In that case, you might try one of Group's other themes; such as their Holy Land Adventures theme, Wilderness Escape, or their Weekend VBS called "Blast Off!"
