Missions We Help Support!
Missionaries We Know and Love!

Learn about their missions and their outreach worldwide!

It is an awesome thing to undertake to help a missionary in his or her calling. They serve on the "front lines" as it were...

I'd like for you to get to know the folks listed on this page. All of them are WELL KNOWN to us at Sunday School Center. (We would not recommend them to you otherwise.) We have actually met them... held hands with them... and prayed with them!

They are all associated with worthy organizations...(some of which you will undoubtedly recognize.) And each one of them publicly acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!

Each of these groups is also responsible for raising financial support for their ministries. When Sunday School Center was founded, we decided to donate a tithe (or at least 10%) of any proceeds from this website to be be divided among these ministries each year. So... YOU are helping support these missions just by visiting Sunday School Center!

Want to learn more about them or donate to their efforts? Please visit their official websites! In most cases you may follow the links located next to their photos.

PLEASE NOTE:
Sunday School Center receives NO PART of any donations you may choose to make to any of these ministries!! We ask only that you learn about them... thank God for them... and pray for them as the Holy Spirit may move you to do so... Thank you!

I hope you'll enjoy getting to know our friends! They are arranged on this page by distance from our house.

The PARKS - India
The Amos Fund

Tax deductible donations may be sent to:
The Amos Fund
P.O. Box 67081
Lincoln, NE 68506

Glen and Bec live and serve in India, where he is an attorney and she is a full-time mom. He works with various NGO (Non-Governmental Organizations) including Freedom Firm and Tiny Hands.

These well respected organizations work to stop underage prostitution and sex trafficking. Their volunteers work very conscientiously, and God is blessing their efforts.

Bec, one of my dearest friends, moved to India a few years ago with 4 children under the age of 10... And it has sometimes been hard to think of them being "way over there!" But, I am happy to say, they have all done very well... and that is a blessing! God is BIG!

Since their arrival, Bec has been working with other women in their small town. One of her most striking accomplishments is the opening of a Women's Center, which is called Kurinji (named after a native flower that blooms only once every 12 years.)

She teaches Jazzercise, works with teenage girls in the local schools, hosts events at Kurinji, and enjoys inviting people to informal gatherings in their home.

The Parks are 8,803 miles away as the crow flies... and I feel every mile.

The BORQUISTS - Brazil
American Baptist Churches - International Ministries

international
ministries.org

Our good friends,Bruce and Ann Borquist, are career missionaries. They, along with their son, Asa, are currently serving in Brazil, where they actually help train and equip other missionaries!!

What a blessing they are!

They serve with International Ministries ABCUSA in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in partnership with JAMI, the international mission agency of the National Baptist Convention of Brazil.

The Borquists equip Brazilian missionaries to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in countries around the world, including unreached people groups in Brazil. Based at JAMI's missionary training center in Belo Horizonte, they serve as teachers and pastoral counselors training new missionaries in the areas of cross-cultural ministry skills, Christian community and economic development, and English language for mission.

The Borquists are a long 5,364 miles away... but the distance was recently shorter, as my daughter and I just concluded a brief visit with them this spring. We were able to help with some of the English training for their students. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn what it is like to be a missionary in a foreign country!

ASHLEY HOOVER - Honduras
Child Evangelism Fellowship

cefonline.com

Ashley Hoover, is a young woman who decided early to dedicate her life to the Lord Jesus as a missionary. Ashley loves the Great Commission and believes that she can best help fill it by reaching out to children in Honduras.

You can follow Ashley's journey by visiting her really wonderful blog at www.honduranatheart.blogspot.com.

Child Evangelism Fellowship is her sponsoring organization. Ashley is in the final stages of raising the monthly support she will need in her ministry. If you would like to help her with that, please visit the website of Child Evangelism Fellowship. You will need to write Ashley's name in the comment box during your on-line donation.

Child Evangelism Fellowship is able to go into the schools in Honduras to present the Gospel to children. Ashley says that "The potential for impacting the country is overwhelming!" And she assures us that she "can't wait to be there, investing in the lives of boys and girls for eternity!"

Her ministry will involve training adults and teens to reach out to the children of Honduras through Christian Youth In Action and Teaching Children Effectively™ courses. Establishing the “Children with Vision” program in Honduras will be a main focus of her ministry as well. “Children with Vision” is a ministry which has, as its central purpose, to challenge and train the believing child to evangelize others, using a simple method.

She will also be ministering directly to the children through Good News Clubs®, 5-Day Clubs®, and Camp Good News®.

Ashley is still at home, continuing to raise her needed funding. But soon she will be serving the Lord, 1,877 miles away from her family's home! God bless you, Ashley!!

The BENTLEYS - USA
Campus Crusade for Christ

CCCi.org

Originally from the Midwest (Iowa and Nebraska) the Bentleys aren’t your stereotypical missionaries. They work behind the scenes at the World Headquarters for Campus Crusade for Christ in Orlando.

Scott serves in the IT (computer) department as a desktop tech. Like any organization, computers occasionally stop working, printers need to be setup and software needs to be installed. (Angie jokes that he talks the missionaries off of ledges when they have computer problems.)

Angie's expertise is in journalism and communications. She serves in the corporate communications office and directs the public Web site for Campus Crusade, www.CCCi.org.

Scott and Angie live and serve in beautiful Orlando, Florida. You may be thinking that this is the kind of "suffering for Jesus" that appeals to you (Perhaps you suddenly "feel the call" to Missions!)... But before we all go packing our bags to visit The Mouse... We should remember that the Bentleys (like other Campus Crusade volunteers) have to raise all of their own support for their annual living expenses. They truly are in full-time ministry!

The Bentleys’ ministry is about helping change lives by supporting the work of Campus Crusade’s 25,000 missionaries around the world!

Scott and Angie live about 1,209 miles away from home, serving Jesus in beautiful Orlando, Florida... (I believe I do feel the call to Missions!)

To read more about the Bentleys, you can visit their own web site link.

Rev. Don COLEMAN - USA
MAD DADS of Lincoln

MAD-DADS

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to:
M.A.D. DADS of Lincoln
P.O. Box 80731
Lincoln, NE 68501

Rev. Donald Coleman is a missionary right here at home...ground zero, where I live... Lincoln, Nebraska. I have known Rev. Don for several years, and currently we do a local radio program together on Sunday nights: "The Old Time Gospel Radio Program." You can listen to our program on the web on Sunday nights from 8pm-Midnight (Central). www.KFOR1240.com.
(I do an inspirational talk at about 10:15 pm CST; you can listen to it live online!!)

Rev. Coleman is an ordained minister and the founder and President of the Lincoln Chapter of the MAD-DADS (Men Against Destruction - Defending Against Drugs and Social Disorder.)

He is a very fine man, as his record will indicate. In 2000 he and his wife, the Reverend Ann Coleman, won National Parents of the Year. He is a decorated military man, retiring after 25 years of service, as a Sergeant First Class and a Vietnam veteran.

He founded the Lincoln Chapter of MAD DADS of Lincoln in the early '90s and since then has run numerous projects for youth that have impacted the Lincoln community.

MAD DADS is currently involved in a huge bike give-away program. This past year hundreds of children across Nebraska were given new or refurbished bikes. The people of Lincoln and surrounding areas donate the bikes and other volunteers give time and money to help refurbish them.

Last summer Lincoln, NE hosted the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games! Rev. Don and his army of volunteers prepared and gave away over 150 bicycles to athletes at the event!!

When asked about the efforts at MAD DADS, Reverend Coleman says "We believe that every young person should have a smile on their face. Every young person should believe in the possibilities of the future. All we want to do is to 'keep the possibilities alive' in the hearts and minds of our young people all across Nebraska."

The MAD DADS office is just a few miles away from my house. They do good work, and it's really humbling to see how gentle kindness and generosity changes people's lives.
