Our Review:
The Urban Ministries 2014 VBS theme is "The Jesus Connection" and it gives us another great option for reaching out specifically to African American communities.
The Jesus Connection uses Internet terminology to try and express Biblical truths. It explains that being in fellowship with Jesus is similar to being online and that, like the Internet, God is available 24/7. They emphasize that God invites us to have fellowship with Him anytime and anywhere.
They say that to live in fellowship is to have a 'real time' connection with Him and that "when you are connected to Jesus, you want to live like Him."
Urban Ministries has partnered with the Grammy award-winning artist, Edwin Hawkins, in the production of their musical selections, which are amazing.
Every facet of this VBS program has been designed to address spiritual development, Bible learning, social development, cultural awareness, and educational development.
There are 10 lessons that can be used either for a 5 or 10 day program. Materials are available to help meet the needs of students from Preschooler to Adult.
