OVERVIEW of LESSON and CRAFT for Children:This Independence Day lesson is written for children ages 7-12 and includes suggestions for a craft and a game. The children will learn about how, as Americans, we celebrate our freedom on July 4th. And how, as believers in Christ, we can celebrate our freedom every day, because Jesus has set us free from sin and death! The children will learn the meaning of the colors of our flag. - RED - Courage
- WHITE - Purity
- BLUE - Faithfulness
They will also discuss how Jesus was courageous, pure and faithful! SCRIPTURE VERSE: John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. CRAFT: The children will use red, white and blue construction paper, along with star stickers, to create an American flag!
OVERVIEW of LESSON and GAME for Youth: Teens will learn about our rights, which are endowed to us by our Creator, as described in the Declaration of Independence. They will also discuss how our freedoms and blessings have their origins in the LORD God. In Genesis 18:18 God promised Abraham that all nations on earth would be blessed through him. Students will learn that this promise was fulfilled in the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. SCRIPTURE VERSES: Psalm 33:12 – Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD… Genesis 18:18 – Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. John 8:36 – So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. GAME: Rights or Wrongs? It seems that members of your Youth Group have been stranded on several different deserted islands. Now they have 10 minutes to come up with a list of "Rights" that everyone on their island will have. But, are there more "Rights" or "Wrongs" on their lists? You and the others will decide when all the lists are read out loud! Sit back, relax, and work on your tan, while your island groups work on their lists! But be ready for some noisy fun in the sun when its time to vote on Rights or Wrongs! Here's hoping you don't get voted off the island!
