You never know when God's going to give you a poem, or a song, or a little piece of poetry. Over the years, I've written mine down. Sometimes in books, other times on little scraps of paper, which I have kept fastidiously.
I invite you to do the same. Write yours down! Keep them forever (on the little scraps of paper that you scribbled them on.) Someone close to you will appreciate them one day. Perhaps you will appreciate these. Enjoy! - Sharon
P.S. Feel free to quote or use these in your ministry for free! The copyright symbol is just to let you know when I wrote them, and to remind people not to use them for commercial purposes. Blessings!
"Drown!" the devil hollers!
My parents urge me, "Swim!"
But Jesus bids me leave the boat,
And simply "Come" to Him.
The waves of Life crash all around,
And would swamp a son or daughter,
But Jesus says to come with Him,
And walk upon the water.
GOD works in such mysterious ways,
His will to bring about,
While we would change from outside in,
GOD works from inside out.
Tell your theme to the wind my child,
And the walls will hinder its journey.
Write your name on the walls of the world,
And the walls will crumble to sand.
Write your words in the sand my child,
And the wind shall blow it away
And time shall forget you as easily...
But inscribe His love in the hearts of men,
And your thoughts shall remain forever.
Is life so long,
Or love so short,
You think it cannot be,
That when a man has lived a life,
There's still eternity?
I live in a little tent.
God gave it to me when I was born.
I lived here all alone until He came and visited me, and I welcomed Him in, and He stayed with me.
And then I wasn’t lonely anymore.
Over the years, I have enlarged the place of my tent and stretched my tent curtains wide.
I have lengthened my cords and strengthened my stakes.
I always knew
that one day, when God was ready,
I would discard this little tent,
so that
what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
And just when it felt like I was getting all settled in, I noticed…
There is a rip
in the tent.
2 Corinthians 5:1
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Thanks for visiting my Christian Poems page. I hope you like my little poems. If you do, please write and tell me.
I won an award once for the one called "Words in the Sand." No need telling you which award, because you would have NEVER heard of it.
At any rate, thanks for visiting my little page. I hope my poems help you, or inspire you, or lead you closer to God. I will add more as we go along.
With love in Christ,
Sharon
