See a review of the Mega Sports Camp 2014 VBS theme, Game Plan
The folks at Gospel Publishing have come up with a new Game Plan for VBS. It's called Mega Sports Camp: Game Plan. And I'd like to recommend it to you, for consideration as an outreach ministry to your neighborhood.
The idea is that kids come to VBS and are involved with a Sports Camp at the same time! Kids can choose one of several options for the week; including Cheerleading, Soccer, and Basketball. Each day the kids learn more about the particular sport/activity they have chosen.
(Additional outdoor options include Flag Football and Baseball; indoor options include Cooking, Drama and Card Making.)
This VBS Theme is unique in that it uses the attraction of a Sports Camp to reach children in the community, who may not already be involved with church. It also has the added effect of getting more men involved with Vacation Bible School!
During the day there is both a Bible Story (based on the Life of Moses) and a Sports Story (based on the lives of several well-known athletes.) In several group sessions the kids work on memorizing portions of their Bible verse (Jeremiah 29:11-12) and discuss how to apply these truths to their lives.
Gospel Publishing offers a series of 24 comic books and 4 graphic novels that you could use to follow-up with kids who have accepted Christ, or to otherwise provoke spiritual conversations. They also offer a "Gospel Ball" that can be used as a fun way to share the Salvation Message with kids. See www.welcometoholsom.com
Don't worry about not being a sports expert. Gospel Publishing provides detailed instructions, in sturdy, spiral-bound booklets, for how to do each of the sports/activities at Mega Sports Camp. (I think even I could follow the directions.)
And I am sure that other people, who really love these sports, will come forward to help, as soon as they figure out what you are planning!
After all, God provides!
Mega Sports Camp 2014 VBS - Game Plan is a great way to do a fun VBS outreach in your community.
The MEGA Sports Camp 2014 VBS "is a church-led, volunteer-friendly outreach that engages elementary kids Grades 1-5 (or 6), while teaching them biblical principles. Why do kids like it? Because it's fun! MEGA Sports Camp is an active outreach. Kids don't just sit and listen to someone talk about the Bible. They have a chance to play a fun sport, like football, while learning biblical principles. Having fun makes learning easy! Why do pastors like it? It's flexible and easy-to-use, it doesn't break the budget, and the sports attract kids that don't even go to church."
